Richard Bowie (called "Rick overtime"), 52, flying for 20 years, flew and flies all around the world, more than 2000 hours gliding. HighTech Gliding is proud to have him on our team. He is an Air Experience Instructor.
Norman Sanders, flying for 50 years, (Planes and Gliders) was a commercial pilot. A very experienced pilot; he was a senator in USA and Tasmania for some years. He has led a very interesting life and has many tales. You can count on him to give you a great fly. Glider Instructor Level 1.

We currently operate a fleet of four self-launching gliders, amongst them the DG 500 M, the very best in two seater competition sailplanes and the ASK 21 MI.
The ASK 21 MI has been purchased in 2006, brand new! It's the latest technology available. You can find more about the gliders by chosing Īglidersā on the main menu.

We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest safety standards and the excellent quality of the glider fleet, which currently consists of two Motorfalkes, a RF 5 and the well renowned DG 500 M, and the ASK 21 MI. The DG and the ASK are the only such gliders available for joy flights in Australia.
DG 500 M: This high performance master of the sky has a 22-metre wingspan with a retractable engine making it ideal for exploring and finding the “ultimate soaring adventure” in the skies.
ASK 21 MI: fully aerobatic! quiet and gentle or able to turn your world upside down!

How to find us ...
South of the Gold Coast and North of Ballina, we are conveniently located just 8 kilometres (7 minutes) North of downtown Byron Bay.
Just head North from Byron Bay on the Pacific Highway and get off at the Tyagarah Airfield / Gray’s Lane turn off. Take the second left into Old Brunswick Road and you will find us just 100 metres up the road, the large blue hangar on your right.
